Textile Recycling

Textiles can be recycled like other household waste. Here's what you can do:

  • Take your used clothes/bags/curtains to a textile bank;
  • Take your used clothes to a charity shop.
  • Give your old clothes/bags/curtains to the local jumble sale;
  • Buy second hand clothes from Charity Shops.
  • Buy your goods carefully, things that you are likely to wear a long time and not go off in a couple of weeks;
  • Look for recycled content in the garments you buy as some companies state this on the label;
  • Buy cloth wipers that can be washed and used again rather than disposable paper ones.

Recycled textiles can be used for:

  • Clothing;
  • Sheets, towels, tablecloths;
  • Curtains, mats, rugs, carpets;
  • Furniture covers and stuffing;
  • Rope, twine, canvas, sacking;
  • Rags and dusters;
  • Bags and toys.
