How do I know if a product contains recycled material?
Look out for the recycle symbol - known as mobius loop. This is the most widely used symbol, it means:

That there is a recycled content

That the product is recyclable
When a product is described as recycled, it means that it contains an element of recycled material, but does not necessarily mean that it is made from 100% recycled material.

Are recycled products poorer quality?
Due to advances in technology most recycled products are made to the same high standards as products made from virgin materials.
You may even use goods with a high recycled content every day and not know it, such as:

Aluminium pop cans are likely to contain recycled aluminium

The glass jars in your kitchen cupboard are very likely to contain some recycled glass

Avoid buying over-packaged goods.

Check to if any wrapping is made from recycled materials.

Look out for toilet paper, tissues and kitchen rolls made from recycled paper and refuse sacks and rulers made from recycled plastic.

Writing paper and envelopes are often made from recycled paper.

Buy refillable or remanufactured printer cartridges for home or workplace computers.

Refill empty cartridges or return them for recycling.
