Further Education in Gateshead

Further education (often abbreviated FE ) is post-secondary, post-compulsory education (in addition to that received at secondary school). It may be at the same level, at a higher level, or at a lower level than secondary education, anything from basic training to Higher National and Foundation Degree.

Gateshead College is a further education in college, and has invested over £60million in four state-of-the-art campuses across Gateshead:

  • Baltic Campus on Gateshead Quays boasts four floors of performance and music studios, workshops, a two-tier library, an industry standard salon and spa, a 200-seat theatre, as well as student restaurant Enfields and a bistro.
  • The Academy for Sport at Gateshead International Stadium is number one for sport education in the region complete with an indoor athletics hall, sports science and medicine facilities and a performance lab.
  • The Skills Academy for Automotive, Engineering, Manufacturing and Logistics is the preferred trainer for Nissan apprentices and is purpose built with spray booths, rolling road, diagnostic equipment and driving simulators
  • The Skills Academy for Construction is a unique facility complete with real life work areas including plumbing, plastering, joinery and brickwork.
