CLC Visit - History department

The meeting between Ryton year 9 students and Hookergate year 9 students at the CLC this went very well. They were working in groups, evaluating an educational game about WW2 bombing in the North East. Although they had a hesitant start by the end of the session they were all talking and discussing with each other and had made a number of friends.

The students were a credit to the school – polite, engaged and willing to learn. They were excellent at evaluating the game and have put forward some very good ideas for improvement which the CLC will work upon.

This is our second ‘bonding’ session with Hookergate. We also invited some year 11 students who are considering studying History at AS level to visit Ryton which they did at the beginning of half term.  Our year 12 students spoke to them in a very positive manner and showed them around the school. Both sets of students got on very well. The Hookergate students enjoyed their visit and by the time they left were considering the new Charles  Thorp School as an option for September
