The closing date to apply for a secondary school place was 31 October 2017 and the online system has now closed. If you want to submit a late application you will need to contact the School Admissions Team on 0191 433 2757 and request a paper application form.
What happens next
Following the submission of your secondary school application form, your request will be processed and you will be notified of the outcome of your application on or around 1 March 2018.
If you have ranked a Catholic school as one or more of your preferences, they will write to you to request evidence of your child’s religion. If you have applied to more than one Catholic school, you will receive more than one request for proof of your child’s religion. It is important that you provide all evidence requested by the date indicated by the school, as failure to do so could result in your child’s application being considered in a lower category than it actually is and this may jeopardise your chances of gaining a place at this school.
National offer date for secondary schools is on or around 1 March 2018 and an offer letter will be posted to your home address. Applicants that applied online will also receive an email on or around 1 March 2018 confirming the outcome of their application.
If you are refused a place at any of your chosen schools, your letter will provide information about the appeals and waiting list process and what to do next.
