I have been sent a letter saying that I am going to be prosecuted for my child's poor attendance, what does this mean?

This means that both school and the Education Welfare Service have tried to help you improve your child’s school attendance. They will have had little response from you from letters sent, phone calls or you were out when the Education Welfare Officer called at your house. By now there has been no improvement and the Local Authority has made a decision to begin Non Attendance Proceedings.
