Will the Education Welfare Officer take my child to school?

It is the parents/carers responsibility to ensure that their child(ren) attends school.

However, there may be occasions when an Education Welfare Officer will take a child into school. This could be because the child

  • has had time off school for a medical condition;
  • is being bullied which is preventing them from attending school;
  • they need extra support in order to feel comfortable about going back into school again.

This support is offered as part of an agreement with parents, schools and the child, and is only for a limited period of time.
