I always write a note explaining my child's absence so why is school questioning me?

It is the Head Teachers decision whether or not an absence is authorised. Parents cannot authorise their child’s absence. If school feel that your child is having too much time off school, they will either write or speak to you about their concerns.

Schools contact the parents/carers of pupils whose attendance falls below the attendance target of 95%. This is because they want your child to achieve the best possible results from their time in school and by being regularly absent they will not do this.
