I have had a letter about my child's punctuality at least he goes. Why are they bothered?

If your child's school become concerned about the number of times your child is late then you will be asked the reasons why. It is very important that your child arrives to school on time.

Being late for school means that

  • Your child will be missing the start of the day;
  • They could miss some important information given out about the day ahead;
  • They may disrupt other pupils education as well as their own;
  • It disrupts the lesson and teachers have to give out the information again;
  • It might become a bad habit through to secondary school and into their work life;
  • It could lead to poor attendance.

Persistent lateness after the register closes can result in a Fixed Penalty Fine or prosecution in the Magistrates Court.
