What will happen if the Non Attendance Proceedings go ahead?

The Non Attendance Proceedings mean that you have been given numerous chances to try and improve your child’s school attendance but there has been no improvement and the Local Authority has made a decision to begin Non Attendance Procedures.

You will be given a minimum of 12 weeks to improve your child’s attendance. During this time you will be invited to attend an Office Interview, where you will be given another chance to discuss any reasons that may be preventing your child from attending school.

If your child’s attendance continues to be poor then you will be invited to attend a meeting with the Non Attendance Panel at the Civic Centre. The Panel will decide to issue a Fixed Penalty Notice of £50 or proceed to the Magistrates Court.
