Why is it important that my child attends school regularly?

Everybody wants the best for their children and ensuring that your child attends school regularly helps them to make the most of their education, improving their chances in adult life.  At school children also learn to important social skills, such as making and keeping friends.

Young people who are off school are:

  • At risk of becoming victims of bullying or crime;
  • May be drawn into antisocial or criminal behaviour;
  • Get behind with their school work.

The Governments recommended minimum school attendance target is 95%. There are many pupils who regularly achieve this target and many more have 100% attendance each year.
