To celebrate England hosting the Olympic Games in July 2012 a range of schools will be participating in 2 hour Olympic workshop delivered by Family Learning.
The workshops are designed to engage mothers, fathers, grandparents and carers in fun activities with their children. Family Learning will host a “Family Olympics” celebration event on 16th May 2012 when medals will be awarded.
The schools taking part will promote the event with their families. We hope to be able to engage a minimum of 6 families and maximum of 15 families in each school.
How does this work?
-
The workshop is designed for Key Stage 2 children and their families
-
Activities include literacy, numeracy and physical fitness (using Wii)
-
Family Learning staff will organise and deliver the activities
-
Schools will be awarded points for the number of families they engage.
-
Families will earn points for every activity they complete
-
Each school’s total score will be collected and entered onto our leader board which will be located on our website
-
The workshops will be delivered across the borough from October 2011 to May 2012
-
Press coverage of the activities and celebration event will also be organised.
