Gateshead Council Adult Learning and Skills are committed to improving the employability prospects and aspirations of Gateshead citizens. We work with learners who are not in employment, education or training

We recognise that the journey towards employment is different for every person. We all have a different starting point and a different destination in mind. In response to this, the Skills for Jobs team offers a wide range of services, each tailored to the needs of individuals:

  • One to one advice and guidance to help you plan your route back to work 
  • Free courses to help you improve your employability including: 
    • Team Work
    • Problem Solving
    • Workplace Communication
    • Assertiveness
    • Online Employability
  • Progression opportunities to further learning

Skills for Jobs services are free to any individual, over the age of 16, who are not currently in employment, education or training and are available across Gateshead. By helping you compete more effectively in the job market, we can help you progress into further learning, gain work experience or move into employment.

Drop- In

In addition to the structured short course we offer we also hold a Skills for Jobs Drop-In every Wednesday from 11.15am – 1.15pm at the Headworks @ the Civic Centre. You will receive advice and support on training to assist with gaining employment. ALL WELCOME
