Councillor Maureen Chaplin| is taking up the position of Mayor of Gateshead. The official investiture of the new Mayor took place at the Annual Meeting of Gateshead Metropolitan Borough Council Friday 16th May.
Over the coming year the Mayor will be supported in her role by Deputy Mayor, Councillor Joe Mitchinson|.
Mayoral Invitations
Any local group or individual working within the community who wishes to invite the Mayor to a local event should contact the Mayor's Secretary. A copy of the attendance request form along with additional guidance notes for the organizers of functions is available on this page.
If you need to inform the Mayor and her consort about any changes to the original booking i.e. change of arrival/departure time, cancellation of the event etc you can in the first instance contact the Civic Officer during office hours.
Outside of office hours you can contact the telephony team at Gateshead Civic Centre on 0191 433 3000 Monday – Friday 5.00pm until 7.00pm and Saturday 9.00am until 1.00pm.
After 8.00 pm and on a Sunday you can contact ETIS on 0191 433 4111 who will ensure that the appropriate message is passed on to the Mayor's Attendant.
