Gateshead Council is committed to achieving improved service delivery and access to services through the implementation of e-Government. The council has six medium term objectives:

Development of capacity - internally and externally;
which are directed towards the achievement of the council’s vision:
'Local people realising their full potential, enjoying the best quality of life in a healthy, equal, safe, prosperous and sustainable Gateshead'
E-government has been identified as one of the key facilitators for the development of capacity and it is also recognised that it will be essential to the implementation of the Customer Service Strategy ( CSS ), through which many of the other objectives will be delivered. As a consequence e-Government at Gateshead is now being implemented via the CSS .
