Another day at school for Scott.
One Gateshead pupil has notched up an amazing eight years without missing a single day at school.
11-year-Scott Parker, who attends Fell Dyke Community Primary School in Wrekenton, Gateshead, started school on the 3rd July 2000 at the age of three. More than 1,500 school days later, Scott is the only pupil in the school’s history to boast an eight-year 100% attendance record.
Now Scott’s amazing record will be recognised at a special school assembly, where he will be presented with a silver cup to reward his achievement.
Scott said: “I come to school every day so that I can get a good job and great career when I’m older. When I am at school I especially like maths, P.E. and going out on school visits.”
Head teacher, Belita Scott, is extremely proud of Scott. She said: “Scott has never had a single day off sick and has never been taken out of school for a holiday.
“To have 100% attendance for one year is a massive achievement but to have 100% attendance for eight years in a row is amazing and deserves special credit.
“Both Scott and his parents should be high praised for acknowledging the importance of school attendance.
“Dozens of studies show a direct correlation between attendance and school achievement, so it’s no surprise that Scott has been a wonderful pupil who’s done extremely well in his studies.
“We wish him all the very best of luck when he leaves Fell Dyke this summer to embark on his secondary school career.”
