The Mayor of Gateshead will formally lay a wreath at the Gateshead Cenotaph on Prince Consort Road on Sunday 11 November at the same time that local councillors lay similar wreathes at war memorials throughout Gateshead.
Here is a list of all the ceremonies taking place this year on Sunday 11 November 2012 unless indicated.
Gateshead
The Service will commence at 10:45 and it is requested that those intending to be present assemble at the Cenotaph, Prince Consort Road, no later than 10:40.
It is anticipated that the Service will last for half an hour and will include a wreath-laying ceremony.
There will be a March-Past after the Service outside the Central Library, Prince Consort Road where the Mayor and Lord Lieutenant of Tyne & Wear will take the salute.
Birtley
The Parade will leave the Birtley Community Centre, Ravensworth Road at approximately 10:35 and proceed to the Birtley Cenotaph for 10:45 for a short Remembrance Service. There will be two minutes silence followed by a wreath-laying ceremony. Please note that the Cenotaph gates will be closed at 16:30.
The Fellowship of the Service will hold a short wreath-laying ceremony on Friday 9 November 2012. Assemble at Birtley Cenotaph for 18:45.
Blaydon
An ecumenical service will be held at the war memorial at bottom of Blaydon Cemetery at 12 noon.
Chopwell
A Remembrance Service and wreath-laying ceremony will be held at the Cenotaph. Assemble 10:45 for 11:00.
Clara Vale
Assemble at Clara Vale Methodist Church at 10:30 for 10:45, walk to the War Memorial for 11:00 for a wreath-laying ceremony.
Crookhill
Friday 9 November 2012. Assemble at the War Memorial in Stargate at 11:00 for a wreath-laying ceremony and prayers.
Dunston
Assemble at St Nicholas Church at 10:00 for a wreath-laying ceremony at the War Memorial, Dunston. Refreshments will be served afterwards in Church Hall.
Felling
A Communion Service will be held at St Mary’s Church at 09:30. This will be followed by an Act of Remembrance at the Garden of Remembrance at 10:45.
Please not if the weather is inclement the Service will be held in St Mary’s Church.
Greenside
A service will begin at 10:45 at the war memorial, followed by a wreath-laying ceremony.
High Spen
Holy Communion will begin at 09:00 at St Patrick’s Church, followed by a wreath-laying ceremony at 10:00.
Kibblesworth
A short wreath laying ceremony will commence at 10:45 at the War Memorial, Grange Terrace, Kibblesworth. Refreshments will be provided afterwards in the Millennium Centre, Grange Terrace.
Low Fell
A Remembrance Service will begin at 10:45 at the Boer War Memorial, Durham Road Low Fell, followed by a wreath-laying ceremony.
Marley Hill
Assemble at St Cuthbert’s Church, Marley Hill, a Remembrance Service combined with Methodists, at 10:15 for an Act of Remembrance and wreath-laying.
MetroCentre
Assemble at Exhibition Square at 14:45 for a Remembrance Service and wreath-laying ceremony to take place at 15:00.
Rowlands Gill
A memorial service will take place in St Barnabas Church at 10:30. It will be followed by a wreath laying ceremony at the Cenotaph, Rowlands Gill at 12:00.
Ryton
A Service of Holy Communion will be held at Holy Cross at 10:00. This will be followed by an Act of Remembrance and wreath-laying ceremony at the War Memorial at 11:00.
Swalwell
Assemble at the Holy Trinity Church, Hexham Old Road at 09:00 for Holy Communion followed by a wreath-laying ceremony at 10:00.
Whickham
Assemble at Fellside Road, Whickham at 10:30 and proceed to the War Memorial where there will be a wreath-laying ceremony at 11:00. This will be followed by a Service in St Mary’s Church, Whickham.
