Council News Autumn coverAutumn 2017

Welcome to the Autumn edition of Gateshead Council News.

I’m delighted to bring you up to date on the latest £200million development planned for Gateshead Quays that will complete the picture of this truly unique riverside site.

As well as this, we have a four page special on what’s happening across Gateshead when it comes to investing and planning for the future with the spotlight on housing, jobs and the environment. Read about our ambitious plans on pages 18-21.

There’s urgent information for those of you who use the Heworth roundabout. Essential repairs are currently being planned. We tell you why we need to do this, and how this will affect your journey on page 7.

We celebrate the 15th anniversary of the opening of BALTIC this year with a look back at how it all began. And we look ahead to some great events coming up for families including the 32nd Family Sculpture day, the popular Enchanted Parks and the annual Juice Festival that celebrates the creativity of children and young people.

As the nights draw in and the sunny weather subsides, we’ve a timely reminder about getting your flu jab and how to stay well this winter.

Plus congratulations to our many local award winners - from inspirational adult learners to Special Gateshead Olympic athletes who came home from the Special Olympic GB National Games in Sheffield with 52 medals!
