Council News Autumn 2011

Council news winter 2011 coverWelcome to the last Council News of 2011! As the year draws to a close, we report on some key activities, milestones and challenges for the coming year.

Work has already started on the £150 million Trinity Square development that is set to transform our town centre.   Our budget consultation continues, and you’ve still time to tell us what your views are – see pages 6-7 for how to take part.

We feedback your views on waste and recycling issues and how bin collections are changing for the New Year as we change to alternate weekly collections. And, our second winter weather watch supplement tells you what we are doing to keep Gateshead working and moving during the winter months.

There’s exciting Olympic news too as we look forward to welcoming the Olympic Flame. Plus we celebrate our very own local heroes with the results of the Gateshead Awards for 2011.
