What is the Gateshead Council Residents' Survey?
Since 1997,Gateshead Council has carried out a Residents Survey every two years to obtain views from residents and service users on their satisfaction with Council services, how effectively services are being delivered and how they might be improved. Topics covered by the survey include:
Who is surveyed?
In 2005 the survey consisted of approximately 3000 randomly selected interviews conducted in people's homes across the borough. Targets are set on gender, age, sex, housing tenure and socio-economic group. Booster samples were included for the Jewish Community and the Black Minority Ethnic Community to ensure to make sure that the results are representative of the people that live in Gateshead.
Who carries out the survey?
The interviews are completed on behalf of Gateshead Council by an independent market research organisation. In 2005 this company was Market Research UK Ltd, in previous years MORI have carried out the survey.
How do we use the results?
The council and our local partners use findings from the survey to improve services and influence decision-making. The results are also used to help to prioritise spending for the next financial year and to identify areas where we need to focus more attention and resources.
