As a result of significant cuts in government funding, Gateshead Council needs to reduce its expenditure by a further £46m over the next two years. This is in addition to the Council having already saved £90m since 2010.
To help inform the difficult decisions the Council will need to make when it sets its Annual Budget for 2015-16, we asked for your views on the draft proposals set out in the budget consultation report.
Following the outcome of the consultation, several of the initial proposals have ben changed or have been given more time to allow for further options to be considered, including proposals relating to leisure services and the Older People's Home Support service. For details of these changes and others see page 13 of the report.
The council's budget for 2015-16 was agreed at Cabinet on 24 February 2015 and approved by Council on 26 February 2015.
Comprehensive Impact Assessments
In order to ensure that decisions reached by the Council are fair, and do not have a negative impact on specific groups, or on the Council’s strategic aims, we have implemented a Comprehensive Impact Assessment (CIA) process.
