Approaching complaints differently – and more effectively

Since 1st April 2009, there has been a new, single approach to dealing with complaints about NHS and Adult Social Care Services. This approach helps organisations to deal with complaints better, in order to make services more effective, personal and safe.

We take all complaints seriously and try to resolve them quickly where possible.  We encourage people who use Adult Social Care Services to tell their problem to the member of staff that they know best first. However, if they cannot help, you can get in touch with Social Care Customer Services who can advise you about the complaint procedure and assist you in making your complaint.  Social Care Customer Services can be contacted by telephone, 0191 433 2692.

The Council will use your experiences to help develop and further improve our Adult Social Care Services.

You can make a comment, compliment or complaint in a number of ways. You can:

  • Speak to the member of staff that you know best
  • Visit any Council office;
  • Complete the online form;
  • Email us: enquiries.cbs@gateshead.gov.uk
  • Phone us on: 0191 433 2692
  • Minicom: 0191 433 2619
  • Write a letter:
