The Council protects public health through the enforcement of food safety laws.
UK law requires the registration of premises used for a food business including food delivery vehicles and other mobile food vehicles.
Registration allows local authorities to keep an up-to-date list of all those premises in their area so they can visit them when they need to. The frequency of the visits will depend on the type of business.

Please note that in addition to food registration for mobile food traders, most street traders are also required to be licensed before they can trade in Gateshead.
