Health Trainers Home

There will be times in your life when you feel change is required, may be because you have had an experience which makes you assess what you are getting out of it, and other occasions when a surge of motivation is triggered having seen or heard something inspirational. Regardless of what releases that thought we know that it is more likely to succeed in reaching an achievable goal with the additional support of a Health Trainer. 

Our team of Health Trainers are local people, with knowledge and experience of the area they work in. We are able to put you in touch with other Services, Community Groups and projects but more importantly we are able to offer personal support.

A Health Trainer can help you complete a Personal Health Check form to help you to identify an area of change that will help you build a healthier lifestyle and improve your general well-being (mental health).

Setting a GOAL can be a challenge and it is important to remember small steps lead to big change. 

Health is a "resource for everyday life, not the objective of living", and "health is a positive concept emphasizing social and personal resources, as well as physical capacities." (1986 WHO )

Health Trainers work in the following areas:

  • West – Croft, Crookhill, Chopwell, Denton View, Highfield and Pipebridge
  • Inner West – Swalwell, Dunston, Low Teams and Teams
  • Central – Bensham, Deckham, Town Centre, Sunderland Road and Lobley Hill
  • South – Kibblesworth, Birtley, Ravensworth Road, Allerdene, Beacon Lough East, Elisabethville, Beacon Pugh Estate, Sheriff Hill, Springwell and Wrekenton.
  • East – Leam Lane, St Cuthbert Drive, Felling, Stoneygate, Felling House, Branding Estate and Old Fold

Health trainers also work with and have strong links with the following services:

  • Children's' Centres
  • Community Centres
  • Health Visitors
  • Neighbourhood Management Teams
  • Community Nutritionists
  • The Community Health Team
  • Tyneside Women Health
  • Economic Development Team
  • GVOC (Gateshead Voluntary Organisation Council)
  • NECA, In2change, 24-7 and Oasis Drug and Alcohol departments
  • Connexions
  • Schools

Working along side Health Professional, Statutory and Voluntary workers enables us to Signpost you to the right people. We continue to build these networks and will make every effort to get you in touch with the Services you need.
