Children's Centre's in Gateshead
Staff at local children's centre's are happy to support parents who want help and advice about protecting children from secondhand smoke. Some centre's offer stop smoking support, please drop in and ask local staff.

Local youth service staff are happy to discuss issues related to smoking with young people and to help them access support to stop smoking.

Have a free NHS Health Check. NHS Health Checks are free for all those who:

Are aged 40-74

Are registered with a GP in Gateshead, South Tyneside and Sunderland

Have not been previouisly diagnosed with diabetes, heart problems, stroke or kidney problems

Not currently managed by a GP for high cholesterol and high blood pressure.
The results of your check-up will give you information on your risk of developing heart disease, stroke, kidney disease or type 2 diabetes.
The check is available from your GP surgery, selected pharmacies and community venues across Gateshead. It’s quick and easy, and if there is a problem, you’ll get plenty of personalised help and advice on simple lifestyles changes that can make a huge difference.
