Eating a balanced diet is one of the easiest ways to look after yourself. Plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables, bread, pasta, rice and potatoes with a proportion of protein and fats will maintain a balance of good health that will help you feel and look good.
How can the Community Health Team help?
The health team has a qualified nutrition worker but all members are able to advise you on healthy eating. Any one of them is available to come and do talks and demonstrations with groups.
-
The team can do demonstrations on:
-
what a healthy meal consists of;
-
how to shop more healthily;
-
how to prepare healthy meals and packed lunches.
-
The team supports a number of initiatives, including food co-operatives, community cafes and allotments.
-
The team can provide support and information for a variety of individuals, community groups and organisations.
Nutrition information is always available for large organised events such as community festivals, where members of the team can run a stall, do demonstrations and answer any queries.
To help put the message across in a fun, interactive and informative way, a 'Blockbuster' style game has been developed. This has been used with great success at a large number of events.
