2. How can I get help from Community Based Services?

Depending on your circumstances we may be able to assist you, your first contact will be Adult Social Care Direct|.  At this stage we will take some basic details from you and ask the duty worker to ring you back to discuss your options (where appropriate) or offer advice.

4. What do I do if I have an emergency outside of normal working hours?

If you have an emergency and you think we can help please call the emergency duty team.

5. How do I apply for a Disabled Car Badge (Blue Badge)?

Contact your local Community Based Services office| and a member of staff will take you details and send out an application form.

6. Do I have to apply for Council services of can I apply for services provided by a private Company?

You can contact companies providing domiciliary care many of these can be found in Yellow Pages in-link yellow pages. Care Quality Commission| ( CQC ) provide free, independent reports on the quality of your local homes and care services to help you make an informed choice.

7. What will I be charged for services provided by Gateshead Council?

This depends on your financial circumstances, to establish this a financial assessment will need to be undertaken and this will determine what charge will be made for services.

8. Where can I find help with housework, shopping, gardening and minor repairs?

These are low-level services, we will provide you with information required to access the services.  Please call your local Community Based Services office|.

9. Do Gateshead Council Provide Wheelchairs?

Unfortunatly Gateshead Council does not supply wheelchairs.  For advice and information about wheelchairs please contact your doctor.
