In the first instance it is advisable for you to contact your GP to eliminate any medical reasons for temporary loss of hearing.
Your GP may suggest referral to an Ear, Nose and Throat Department either at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Gateshead, Freeman Hospital or University of Durham Hospital for a hearing aid assessment.
If you already have a hearing aid, it is important to ensure that it is working correctly:

batteries are working;

the aid is clean and free of wax;

it is strong enough to suit your needs.
