We can offer you advice, assistance and information on:

Visual impairment specialist assessment;

What aids are available to help people with low vision - e.g. Talking Book and Talking Newspaper services;

How to manage better in your home;
-
How learning new skills can help;
-
Problems about low vision;
-
Advice about benefits.
The team will also work with other staff in Community Based Services about other issues.
Most referrals come through the Certificate of Visual impairment which is sent to the Department from Ophthalmology Services.
If you are experiencing difficulty with your sight it is advisable for you to visit your optician who may wish to refer on to Ophthalmology Services for further advice.
The Specialist Officers will also visit people who are not registered.
