Types of Short Break
The Grove is a commissioned building based service.
Caravan at Berwick for people who live in Gateshead with a disability and/or their carers to hire.
Alternative Breaks are holidays to a destination of your choice with a paid carer.
Day Breaks are day trips away to experience new things with friends.
Flexible Hours receive a minimum of 4 hours support per month to access community activities.
Shared Lives Gateshead Shared Lives is a flexible person centred service that is provided by Shared Lives Carers.
Fossdyke is a community based short break service that supports adults with learning disabilities and autism that require individualised support on a 2:1 basis.
Although our guests may at times present challenging behaviour, our team of experienced staff ensure that this has very little impact on the quality of their stay and the activities they like to do.
Support is entirely person centred and our guests and their carers are involved in all the decision making around their short breaks to ensure their time with us is one of enjoyment, fulfillment and having new experiences.
We have detailed support plans to cover every aspect of our guests' needs from personal care, diet, behavioural support to positive risk taking and achieving personal goals. A key worker will support the guest to complete these plans to ensure it reflects their individual choices and decisions.
