Housing Support Service

We provide support to people with learning disabilities living either independently in their own homes or with family carers in Gateshead.

The Housing related support is provided to people living independently to help with:

  • Maintaining their tenancy
  • Living safely and securely
  • Developing and promoting their independence and daily living skills
  • Accessing a range of activities and services within the community including health, learning, work, leisure, social, voluntary, spiritual and cultural.
  • This support is funded by the Supporting People Programme.

The Family Support to people living with a family carer is to:

  • Provide a short break to both the person with a learning disability and their family carer by providing support in the home or in the community to help with accessing leisure, social, voluntary, work or learning activities.
  • To be able to use the Family Support Service you will need to have a Community Care Assessment of need.
