Foster carers come from all walks of life and as long as you feel you can offer a child or young person a safe and secure environment we would be interested in hearing from you. In exchange, we can offer you the opportunity to work as part of a professional team and gain valuable experience within child care.
If you are considering being a foster carer, it is important that you:
-
Enjoy interacting with children and young people
-
Are patient and tolerant
-
Can provide a safe and secure home with enough space (preferably a spare bedroom or room to share with an existing child)
-
Have a bit of extra time
-
Are willing to develop new skills by attending training courses
-
Are able to communicate effectively and work positively with a child’s family and social workers
