Adoption Home

Adoption Changes LivesGateshead Council has a dedicated team of experienced, knowledgeable staff working within our Adoption Service. Our slogan is ‘Adoption Changes Lives' which sums up what people like you can achieve by providing a new family for children who cannot be brought up within their own family.

Adoption isn’t always about young babies. Most of the children we have waiting to be adopted are aged over 2 years old and many are in groups of brothers and sisters who need to be placed together.

We are also looking for homes for a number of disabled children and children whose future development is unclear. Some children may have been abused and/or neglected and most will have experienced moves and uncertainty, often resulting in challenging behaviour.

Here in Gateshead we believe that every child is entitled to a permanent, loving family throughout their childhood so if you are considering adoption then you can be sure that our outstanding team will be on hand to provide you with all the support and assistance you need every step of the way.

We would particularly welcome enquiries from families who would consider adopting brothers and sisters and single children aged over two years old.
