Steps to becoming an adoptive parent

  1. One of our team will then have a chat with you over the telephone and send out an information pack. If you are still interested after reading the information pack, you will need to re contact us (full details are in information pack) and we will arrange a convenient time to visit you at home where we can speak to you in more detail.
  2. You may also be invited to attend an information event which will give you the opportunity to meet some of our team along with further preparation and training.
  3. After the information event, if you still feel adoption is right for you, we will visit you at home to prepare a report for the Adoption Panel. The report will describe your interests, skills and abilities and help the Adoption Panel decide if you are suitable to be approved as adoptive parents. We will also take up references including:
    1. The Criminal Records Bureau
    2. Department of Health
    3. Your Local Area Authority
    4. Personal references
  4. Once you are approved by the Adoption Panel, we will start the process of finding a suitable child to be matched to you. This is the part that can sometimes be quite lengthy and it is not uncommon to take several months to enable us to find the right family for the right child. We understand this part can often be frustrating for many potential adopters and so our experienced team are on hand to support you throughout this time.
