Starting a business

Setting out on your own to start a new business can be a minefield of regulations, laws and complex procedures but the Council’s Economic Development Service are on hand to help guide you through the start-up maze.

Many people dream of starting up their own business but are too afraid, or don’t have the know-how to go for it – that’s why our free, dedicated guidance can be so important in making your vision a reality.

The project benefits from £500,675 of European Union investment from the ERDF Competitiveness Programme 2007-13, managed by the Department of Communities and Local Government (DCLG).  The ERDF programme is bringing over £300m into the North East to support innovation, enterprise and business support across the region.

We want to speak with you if you have an idea for a business or are currently running your own small business and are looking to grow. Our team can offer Enterprise Coaching and advice on getting started, the rules and regulations, funding, investment, training, writing a business plan or even just an informal chat about your initial idea.

We’ve got all aspects of starting a business covered and can help you through the process with ongoing support and expert guidance.

If you have a business idea, need to expand your company or want to relocate to Gateshead the team will be pleased to provide impartial advice and support.
