The Consumer Credit Act 1974 requires traders who provide consumer credit to be licensed and ensures that adverts comply.
The Council investigates allegations that traders are unlicensed and provides advice and assistance to sort out problems with credit agreements.
Applications for a Credit Licence must be made to The Office of Fair Trading.
