Regulation Summary
Who needs to register?
The majority of food premises must register including:
If food premises are used by several food catering businesses (example, a conference centre or village hall), the person who allows the premises to be used for this purpose is responsible for the registration.
If you use vehicles for your food business in connection with permanent premises such as a shop, or warehouse, you only need to tell us how many vehicles you have. You do not need to register each vehicle separately. If you have one or more vehicles but no permanent premises, please let us know where they are normally kept.
Every establishment should be registered and if you use premises in more than one local authority area, you must register with each authority separately.
What if there are changes to the business?
Once you have registered your food business, you need to notify us again if:
-
There is a change of proprietor (a new form should be completed by the new proprietor)
-
The nature of the business changes
-
There is a change of the address at which moveable premises are kept
If you have changes to your business that you need to tell us about, please complete a new Food Registration Form.
If we want to change the entry in the Register because of information which we receive from someone else, you will be given 28 days notice and an opportunity to comment on the proposed change.
