On 13 February 2007 Gateshead Council’s Cabinet approved the implementation of a Borough-wide control of street trading through the adoption of the street trading code under Schedule 4 of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1982, and designation of certain streets as ‘Consent Streets’, in which consent holders may trade in accordance with the provisions of their Consent.
In order to implement this scheme of control, the Council resolved on 18 September 2008 to designate certain streets as ‘Prohibited Streets’ and ‘Consent Streets’, to which the street trading code will apply. A list of streets where street trading is prohibited is contained within the Street Trading Policy|
