Offices, Shops And Railway Premises Act 1963
The Offices, Shops and Railway Premises Act 1963 (OSRPA ) aims to secure the health, safety and welfare of people employed to work in offices, shops and certain railway premises. (Sections 1-3 of the Act define the premises to which the Act applies.)
If an employer intends to employ anyone to work in an office or shop, they are required by section 49 of the Act to:

Notify the appropriate enforcing authority beforehand.

They must provide specific details as laid down in the Notification of Employment of Persons Order 1964 (SI 1964/533).

This is done by completing form OSR1 and sending two copies to the appropriate authority as shown on the form.

Failure to comply with this requirement is an offence
Office Shops and Railways Premises Act 1963
Notice in form prescribed by the Secretary of State for Employment, of employment of persons in office or shop premises.
If you intend to employ any person or persons to work in shop or office premises you are required by Section 49 of the Offices, Shops and Railway Premises Act 1963 and the Notification of Employment of Persons Order 1964, to complete this form.
