In order to safeguard and improve its position and reputation for delivering world class sporting facilities and events the council and its partners aim to enhance and add to existing sporting and spectator facilities at Gateshead international Stadium through the development of an ice arena, indoor ski slope and complementary uses.
The ultimate aim is to create a “Sports Village” fit for the 21st Century which will ensure Gateshead continues to provide world class sporting facilities and delivers on it’s commitment to make it’s residents the healthiest in the country.
The council is currently discussing the development and delivery of additional sporting facilities at the Stadium site with the private sector. Further information on this process will be released in due course.
