In September 2008 the Council undertook a community consultation with the residents of Chopwell. The consultation results have been analysed and used to prepare a draft masterplan for the village.
The draft masterplan proposes to "Promote Chopwell, its rural location and community as an attractive and sustainable place where people want to live." In order to deliver this vision a number of objectives have been developed to deliver regeneration in Chopwell:

Enable people to choose to live in the Chopwell area

Investment in the village to support the local community and services
