MetroGreen is a brownfield site on the south bank of the River Tyne surrounding the Metrocentre. The proposal for the MetroGreen site includes new residential neighbourhoods with a wide choice of housing, as well as commercial, leisure and community facilities. It will feature a network of green spaces and routes for pedestrians and cyclists.
MetroGreen Area Action Plan
Gateshead Council is preparing an Area Action Plan (AAP) for MetoGreen which will guide future sustainable development in the area. It is essential that the AAP is robust and underpinned by the most update to date information / evidence. Existing evidence can be found in the evidence library.
The Council is currently preparing further evidence and assessments to inform the AAP.
MetroGreen Scoping Report
Gateshead Council consulted on the first stage of the MetroGreen AAP in October 2014 notifying all interested parties of the Council’s intention to prepare an AAP inviting comments on what it should contain. The MetroGreen Final Scoping Report and Consultation Feedback Report can be viewed below.

MetroGreen Options Report
The second stage in preparing the MetroGreen AAP was the Options Report which sets out different options for where housing and commercial development would be located as well as key infrastructure. The MetroGreen Options Report and Consultation Feedback Report can be viewed below.
