Planning for the Future - Core Strategy and Urban Core Plan for Gateshead and Newcastle.
Gateshead Council and Newcastle City Council submitted Planning for the Future, Core Strategy and Urban Core Plan for Gateshead and Newcastle upon Tyne to the Secretary of State on February 24.
The Plan will now be subject to an independent examination to be arranged by and conducted by the Planning Inspectorate. Inspector Martin Pike BA MA MRTPI has been appointed to conduct the examination to determine whether the Plan is sound.
The consultation website will also be updated when new information becomes available from the Planning Inspector.
What’s in the Plan?
The Plan has been created as a result of extensive consultation with residents and other stakeholders.
The Plan and submission consists of the following documents:
Sustainability Appraisal incorporating Equality Impact Assessment, Strategic Environmental Assessment and Health Impact Assessment;
Habitat Regulations Assessment;
Planning for the Future Core Strategy and Urban Core Plan for Gateshead and Newcastle Upon Tyne, Compliance Statement – A guide to how the Plan has complied with legal, policy and technical requirements (incorporating the Statement of consultation and Duty to Cooperate); and
The documents are available to view at Development and Enterprise Reception, Gateshead Civic Centre, (Mon to Thurs 8.30am to 5.00pm Fri 8.30am to 4.30pm) and on our online Evidence Library.
