The following people are disregarded when working out how many people are living at a property for Council Tax purposes:

CATEGORY A - People who are in prison or detention;

CATEGORY B - People who are severely mentally impaired;

CATEGORY C - People over 18 years of age and still receiving child benefit and people under 20 years of age who leave school or college between 1st May and 31st October in any year;

CATEGORY D - Students;

CATEGORY E - Student Nurses;

CATEGORY F - Apprentices who earn less than £195.00 per week;

CATEGORY G - Youth Training Trainees;
-
CATEGORY H - Hospital Patients;
-
CATEGORY I - Patients in homes or hostels;
-
CATEGORY J - Carers;
-
CATEGORY K - Care Workers;
-
CATEGORY L - People who live in a hostel or night shelter;

CATEGORY M - Members of religious communities;
-
CATEGORY N - Member and dependants of International Headquarters and Defence Organisations;

CATEGORY O - Members and dependants of visiting forces;
-
CATEGORY P - Persons with diplomatic privilege or immunity;
-
CATEGORY Q - Non-British Spouses of students.
