Depending on your circumstances, it is possible to get discounts and exemptions off your council tax bill.

The full Council Tax Bill assumes that at least two people aged over 18 are living in the property. There will be times, however, when a discount of 25% or 50% will apply.
25% discount applies when:

only one person aged over 18 lives in the property;

two or more people live in a property and only one of them does not meet a discount disregard category. (Disregard Categories).
50% discount applies when:

The property is empty but is furnished;

The property remains empty after property exemption classes A, B, C or F have expired (see empty property exemptions);

All residents in the property fall into a category which is disregarded when calculating the bill. (Disregard Categories).
